Navadeep Sadhana Shivir (NSS) 2024

The Navadeep Sadhana Shivir (NSS) is a yearly spiritual retreat organized by Swami Yugal Sharan Ji. Held annually at Bhakti Dham in Prachin Mayapur, Nabadwip, West Bengal (managed by the Braj Gopika Seva Mission), the NSS offers a transformative experience for devotees seeking spiritual growth. This Shivir is organized annually on the occasion of Swami Ji's birthday.

Over 350 devotees from across India participated in the 2024 NSS held from February 23rd to 26th. The retreat incorporated various elements to nurture the spiritual journey:

  • Devotional Practices: Morning prayers, Arati (ritual worship), and mesmerizing kirtan (chanting) formed the core of the retreat.

  • Cultural Immersion: Light and sound shows (LED shows) added a unique dimension, while a traditional feast (feast) provided a communal dining experience.

  • Spiritual Significance: A boat tour on the Ganges River and a visit to Bhajan Sthali, a historically significant site associated with Swami Ji's spiritual master, deepened the connection to the region's rich spiritual heritage.

The retreat culminated in a vibrant Holi celebration, fostering a sense of community and joy. A special play by a drama team delivered a poignant message on the importance of devotion. The event concluded with the celebration of Swami Ji's birthday on February 26th, followed by a Gramya Bhoj (feast) for more than 2400 people from the local community.

The NSS emphasized the importance of selfless service. Devotees worked together to accomplish tasks, fostering a sense of unity and transcending individual differences. This focus shifted attention away from worldly desires towards building a better environment, helping those in need (hungry, poor), and environmental stewardship.

Participants returned home with a renewed sense of peace – a result of yoga practices for the body, meditation for the mind, philosophical discussions for the intellect, and emotionally stirring experiences i.e. tears for the soul.
